Position Summary
The Accounts Receivable Accountant is responsible for managing accounts receivable activities and supporting month-end and year-end financial close processes. This role manages customer deductions and resolves payment discrepancies while ensuring accurate accounting records and timely collections.
The successful candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive, with the ability to build strong working relationships across departments and with external customers while supporting effective AR management and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and maintain customer remittances, cash applications, credit notes, and deductions; reconcile customer accounts and investigate unapplied cash, short payments, and discrepancies.
- Prepare aging reports and communicate collection status to management, including analysis and recommendations related to receivables, deductions, and customer account balances.
- Follow up on outstanding receivables and collaborate with customers, sales, and internal stakeholders to investigate and resolve deduction and payment discrepancies.
- Prepare AR-related month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules, ensuring the accuracy of accounts receivable balances, customer deductions, and related financial records.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and analysis.
- Identify and support improvements to Accounts Receivable processes, controls, and efficiencies.
- Maintain organized accounting records and ensure supporting documentation is properly filed within the document management system.
- Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or degree is preferred, Accounting, or related field.
- 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably with strong exposure to accounts receivable and customer deductions.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, data analysis, and Power Query; Power BI experience is an asset.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external customers.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

This role will have the opportunity for a hybrid work-from-office and work-from-home schedule. The candidate must reside within an appropriate commute distance of the company’s Oakville office. During the probationary and training period, the candidate will be required to work more often at the Oakville office.
