Drafting Technician

We are currently seeking a Drafting Technician to join our Edmonton team. This role works closely with Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, and Quality Control to create and maintain technical drawings, manage drawing control processes, and perform laboratory testing and product inspections in support of our quality assurance program.

What You'll DoDrafting
- Create and revise detailed seal design drawings using Autodesk Inventor and other computer-assisted drafting software.
- Maintain and control internal and externally supplied drawings.
- Link drawings to part numbers and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Support drawing revisions and document control processes.
Quality Control
- Utilize lab equipment to inspect and test product, to assist with positive material identification (PMI) reports, and other random lab tests and inspections.
- Perform product inspections and measurements to verify specifications and quality standards.
- Use Vernier calipers and other precision measuring instruments to inspect and evaluate products.
- Support quality control initiatives through testing, documentation, and reporting.
General Responsibilities
- Participate in LEAN meetings, worksite hazard assessments, incident investigations, safety meetings, safety training, and other aspects of Hi-Tech Seals' safety and quality programs.
- Support the company's continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
- High school diploma.
- Completion of post-secondary drafting, design, engineering technology, or equivalent drafting-related coursework.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a drafting role.
- Working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor or equivalent CAD software.
- Experience using Vernier calipers and other precision measuring devices.
- Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic mathematical aptitude.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Positive attitude and strong team-player mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering Technology diploma or related technical education.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or quality control environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Interest in technical report writing and documentation.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong conflict-resolution and critical-thinking abilities.
