The Records and Access Unit is seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic information professional to fill the role of Information Specialist. This position will assist with the management and coordination of all aspects of the development, implementation, and sustainment of a corporate cross-ministry Records and Information Management Program and access to information (FOI) responsibilities.
Under the direction of the Records and Access Manager, the Information Consultant will assist with the development, execution, and maintenance of a ministry-wide Records and Information Management Program and handling of access to information requests.
The successful candidate will have advanced knowledge of Records and Information Management principles, and standards, a strong proficiency in SharePoint, and project or program implementation experience. Superior skills with Microsoft Office products are essential and should be supplemented by well-written and verbal communication abilities. Public speaking abilities would be an asset. Freedom of Information policy, experience with access to information requests, privacy principles, and research experience would be an asset.
Preference will be given to those who possess previous experience with electronic records, information management systems, access to information, public speaking and/or training experience, and developed computer skills. Candidates with exceptional interpersonal skills who thrive in a technology-driven environment would excel in this position.
Typically, the knowledge and skills for this position would be obtained through the completion of Records and Information Management certifications such as CRA (Certified Records Analyst), IGP (Information Governance Professional), etc., a university degree in business, completion of an information management program or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
