Position Summary
Bay Steel Inc. is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Welder to join our growing team. The successful candidate will perform fabrication, welding, installation, repair, and maintenance work on a variety of industrial, commercial, structural, piping, and mechanical projects throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
This position requires a strong commitment to quality workmanship, safety, and teamwork while working in both shop and field environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW welding processes as required.
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, specifications, and welding procedures.
- Fabricate and assemble structural steel, piping systems, pressure piping, tanks, and miscellaneous metal products.
- Fit, tack, weld, and inspect components to meet project specifications and quality requirements.
- Perform field installations, repairs, and maintenance work at industrial facilities, power plants, tank farms, and customer sites.
- Operate fabrication equipment including grinders, saws, ironworkers, and cutting equipment.
- Conduct equipment inspections and maintain tools in good working condition.
- Complete required quality control, inspection, and safety documentation.
- Work safely in accordance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Participate in confined space, fall protection, and other safety programs as required.
- Assist with rigging, material handling, and general shop duties.
Qualifications
- Red Seal Journeyperson Welder preferred.
- Apprentice welders with relevant experience will also be considered.
- Experience with structural steel fabrication and industrial piping systems is considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding procedures.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to travel and work overtime as required.
Pay: $30.00-$38.00 per hour
