Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment within our facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing various cleaning and facilities maintenance tasks to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and safety are upheld. Responsibilities
- Sweep, mop and vacuum across assigned areas
- Dust and clean all surfaces, including furniture and fixtures
- Empty and maintain indoor and outdoor garbage bins and ashtrays
- Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, gym areas, dining rooms and kitchens
- Clean and disinfect washrooms, including showers and locker rooms
- Perform spot cleaning of windows and glass surfaces
- Maintain cleanliness of stairwells and common areas
- Operate cleaning equipment, including auto scrubbers
- Disinfect high-touch surfaces to maintain hygiene standards
- Travel between buildings as required to complete assigned duties
- Receive, unload and transport cleaning supplies between sites as needed
- Clean residential rooms, including stripping beds and changing linens
- Prepare linens for pick-up and organize clean linens for storage and distribution
Experience
- Prior experience in custodial or commercial cleaning is preferred but not required; training will be provided
- Must have clear criminal record
- Knowledge of facilities maintenance and basic repair skills is a plus
- Ability to operate auto scrubber and other cleaning tools safely and effectively
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while following established procedures
- Good physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
