About Us Ziya Blue is expanding! We are a proudly women-owned Canadian curio and plant shop, and we are thrilled to be launching our newest location at CF Lime Ridge Mall this July. We specialize in everything from beautiful, bizarre botanicals to "novelty gifts that bite." Our storefront is an inclusive, LGBTQ+ safe space where curiosity is celebrated and feeding the curious is our daily mission. Because a selection of our novelty items features mature, adult-oriented content, we embrace a fun, unfiltered, and highly unique retail environment.
The Role We are looking for a trustworthy, vibrant, and plant-savvy Part-Time Key Holder to join our team in time for our grand opening. You will be responsible for leading shifts, opening and closing the store, and ensuring our plants—and our customers—leave happy. If you have a green thumb, an open mind, and a knack for retail leadership, we want you on our team!
Key Responsibilities
- Store Operations: Independently manage opening and closing procedures, balance the cash register, and secure the premises.
- Plant Care: Water, prune, and monitor the health of our diverse plant inventory, ensuring everything from our succulents to our carnivorous curiosities looks its best.
- Customer Experience: Act as a brand ambassador, welcoming shoppers, answering plant care questions, and comfortably navigating inquiries about our mature novelty items.
- Social Media Participation: Help us grow our online community! Must be willing and excited to be on camera and actively participate in photos and videos for our store's social media platforms.
- Merchandising: Restock inventory, maintain the visual appeal of our displays, and keep the sales floor spotless.
- Leadership: Support the store owner by acting as a point person on the floor, handling minor customer escalations, and setting a positive tone for the shift.
What We Are Looking For
- Age Requirement: Must be 18 years of age or older due to the mature/adult nature of our novelty inventory.
- Experience: Previous retail experience is required; prior experience as a Key Holder or in a supervisory role is highly preferred.
- Plant Knowledge: A demonstrated understanding of general houseplant care and a willingness to learn about unique/specialty plants.
- Reliability: Highly trustworthy with a strong track record of punctuality and responsible cash handling.
- Vibe & Energy: Open-minded, friendly, completely comfortable working around and discussing mature novelty products, and enthusiastic about appearing in social media content.
