Role Overview
The Vice Principal works collaboratively with the Principal and Educational Coordinator to support the overall operation and educational excellence of the center. This leadership role includes overseeing daily operations, supporting and mentoring educators, ensuring compliance with licensing standards, and serving as a key leader in curriculum implementation and staff training. The successful candidate will be a visible, engaged leader who supports educators directly in the classroom while maintaining strong relationships with families and the community.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
- Support the daily management of the center to ensure a safe, nurturing, and well-organized environment
- Assist with staffing, scheduling, and operational decision-making
- Ensure compliance with childcare licensing regulations, health, and safety standards
Curriculum Leadership (Primary Responsibility)
- Act as the main point person for curriculum, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with CEFA philosophy
- Collaborate with leadership to develop, implement, and refine curriculum and learning strategies
- Observe classrooms regularly to support curriculum fidelity and best practices
- Guide educators in lesson planning, documentation, and reflective practice
Staff Training & Mentorship
- Lead onboarding, training, and mentoring of new staff
- Provide hands-on, in-classroom coaching, modeling best practices and guiding educators in real time
- Promote continuous professional development and a culture of learning and collaboration
- Support performance growth through feedback, goal-setting, and professional support
Family & Community Engagement
- Build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with families
- Support communication with parents regarding curriculum, child development, and center initiatives
- Assist with community outreach and family engagement events
Qualifications
- Valid ECE Certification
- Minimum 7 years of experience in an early childhood leadership role
- Minimum 2 years of management experience
- In-depth knowledge and proven experience implementing the CEFA Curriculum (required)
- Strong knowledge of BC childcare licensing requirements and early learning best practices
- Proven experience in curriculum leadership, staff training, and mentoring
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Flexibility to work between 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday
- Must hold a valid BC Government ID
Pay: $26.00-$28.00 per hour
