Project Engineer
Our client is looking for a bilingual (Mandarin/English) Project Engineer. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role is responsible for multiple work fronts, coordinating processes and contributing to a team of cross functional employees and contractors. The successful candidate will support multiple projects. Project phases will vary from assess, select, define, and execute. This is a 1-year contract.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and functional groups (Engineering, Project Controls, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, Operations, Maintenance, HSE, etc.) to ensure the project scope is delivered on intent, on time and on budget
- Coordinate support from EPC contractors and provide Owner oversight to ensure contractors comply with standards, procedures and scope requirements
- Support pre-FID sustaining development projects - providing E&C representation and support
- Participate in project peer and gate reviews
- Lead the development of project strategies and plans
- Lead the development of technical scope of work for engineering services and contracts
- Collaborate with EPC contractors on design development
- Contribute to and/or facilitate design reviews
- Develop and maintain project documentation (e.g. Project Execution Plan, Decision Records, Scopes of Work, Schedules, Meeting Minutes, etc.)
- Facilitate and support Owner assurance processes, such as MOC, Operational Readiness Review, PSSR, Lessons Learned
- Review design standard variances, contribute to value engineering initiatives and support stakeholder communication and buy-in
- Collaborate with project personnel on C&SU
- Coordinate well conversions and completions team work with project and site work
- Support project handover to Operations and close-out
- Reviewing progress reports, and endorsing invoices for services as required
- Develop and support development of presentations and materials (technical and non-technical) for project communication
Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical or Mechanical
- 8+ years of progressive engineering experience, with a strong background in oil & gas or industrial facilities; oil sands/SAGD project execution experience
- Registered as a professional engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
- Bilingual (Mandarin/English)
- Process facility construction and/or C&SU experience
- Experience working in the field is considered an asset
- Working knowledge of SAGD processing and fabrication
- Experience in plant layout and how it relates to equipment design
- Experience in pressure vessel and piping design is considered an asset
- Experience sizing pressure relief valves, control valves and piping is considered an asset
- Ability to handle multiple projects and make sound business decisions in a timely manner to adapt to changing situations
- Demonstrate ability to motivate and coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives
- Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles, methods and practices combined with sound judgment
- Effective organizational, research, analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Good oral and written communication skills
Pay: $60.00-$90.00 per hour
