Locations: Gardens of Peterborough Retirement Residence; Centennial Place (Millbrook, ON); Moira Place (Tweed, ON); Station Place (Havelock, ON)
Status: Full-Time / Part-Time
Shifts: Various shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Pay Disclosure:
- Retirement Residence: $17.60 – $17.70 per hour
- Long-Term Care Homes: $17.60 – $21.51 per hour
- Starting rate, wage progression, and premiums are determined by the applicable collective agreement.

Position Summary
As an Environmental Services Aide/Attendant, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Reporting to the Environmental Services Supervisor, you will perform housekeeping and laundry duties while working collaboratively with your team to support resident safety, dignity, and overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Housekeeping
- Clean and maintain resident rooms, offices, and common areas
- Perform dusting, vacuuming, mopping, disinfecting, and waste removal
- Ensure all areas meet established cleanliness and sanitation standards
Laundry Services
- Wash, dry, fold, and distribute resident clothing and linens
- Maintain proper labeling and timely return of items
- Monitor supplies and report equipment issues
Environment & Safety
- Follow infection prevention and control (IPAC), WHMIS, and workplace safety standards
- Maintain proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment
- Report hazards, concerns, or maintenance issues promptly
Communication & Teamwork
- Communicate effectively with team members, residents, and families
- Respond to requests and concerns in a courteous and professional manner
- Support coworkers and contribute to a positive team environment
Qualifications
- Grade 12 education or equivalent preferred
- Previous housekeeping or laundry experience in healthcare, hospitality, or residential settings considered an asset
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and WHMIS standards
- Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills
- Physically able to perform duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Ability to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
