Purpose
The Aquatics Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, safety, and operational success of the park’s aquatic facilities. This role directly supervises lifeguards and aquatic personnel, ensuring safe program delivery, consistent guest service, and compliance with all provincial regulatory standards. The Aquatics Supervisor oversees scheduling, staff training and development, operational readiness, and emergency response within the aquatic environment. They act as the first point of leadership during guest incidents, ride downtime, and first aid situations, ensuring calm, accurate decision-making and timely communication. The role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to coach staff while maintaining a safe, welcoming, and professional atmosphere for guests and team members alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the safe daily operation of pools, attractions, and aquatic environments in accordance with Lifesaving Society standards, manufacturer guidelines, and Ontario public health regulations.
- Conduct frequent operational walkthroughs to assess risk, monitor procedures, and correct unsafe conditions.
- Ensure all lifeguard attention and rotation plans meet required standards and staffing allocations.
- Maintain accurate documentation including inspections, maintenance notices, rotations, incident reports, and waterpark operational logs.
- Manage ride downtime and attraction closures from both a safety and guest service perspective, ensuring accurate communication and recovery.
- Prepare weekly schedules and daily deployment plans to ensure required lifeguard coverage across all zones.
- Assign tasks and direct personnel to maintain performance, coverage, and operational readiness.
- Ensure team members receive proper breaks, shift adjustments, and position rotations.
- Support new team members through mentorship, on-the-job guidance, and leadership presence in operational areas.
- Deliver ongoing training programs including attraction certifications, in-service refreshers, skill evaluations, and emergency preparedness activities.
- Provide real-time coaching and documented feedback to develop lifeguard skill, confidence, and professionalism.
- Help identify training needs and support continuous improvement in safety, performance, and guest interaction standards.
- Ensure incidents are documented accurately and reported to the appropriate departments.
- Monitor and enforce uniform, grooming, conduct, and appearance standards.
- Ensure all records, reports, and administrative documentation are completed accurately and submitted on time.
- Support efficient labour optimization within approved budget parameters.
- Work collaboratively with other Aquatics Supervisors and other leaders in Operations to ensure consistent operational standards across all shifts.
- Support park-wide operations as needed to contribute to a positive guest experience and smooth day-to-day functioning.

Qualifications & Requirements
- National Lifeguard (NL) certification
- Standard First Aid & CPR-C (or equivalent)
- Previous aquatic or supervisory experience
- Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- AED, supplemental oxygen, or airway management certifications are considered an asset
