Freeman Lumber is one of North America’s oldest family‑run sawmills, proudly operating in Greenfield, NS since 1830. Our 200‑person team runs a highly automated, fast‑paced operation.
We’re looking for a Lead Industrial Electrician who enjoys hands‑on work, solving problems, and keeping advanced equipment running at its best. The position is a lead role, with supervisory responsibilities within the team, offering steady work, strong team support, and the chance to take on more responsibilities over time, and as you grow within the company.
What You’ll Do
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC‑based automated equipment and plant power systems
- Diagnose and repair issues with DC drives, AC inverters, PLC hardware/software, and networking systems
- Perform calibration, preventive maintenance, and parameter adjustments
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
- Work closely with Mechanics, Supervisors, and Operations to maximize uptime
- Support new installations and planned maintenance
- Follow and promote safe work practices, including lockout procedures
What You Bring
- Industrial Electrician certification (or equivalent experience)
- Strong troubleshooting skills with electrical/electronic systems
- Experience with Allen Bradley (Logix Family) and Siemens PLCs
- Knowledge of PLC logic, frequency drives, distributed I/O, and control networks
- Comfortable working in varied environments (heat, cold, outdoors)
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Availability for shiftwork, weekends, and holidays
- Industrial/manufacturing experience is an asset
Compensation & Benefits
- $33.00 - $40.00/hr. (commensurate with experience)
