Recruitment & Business Development Specialist
About the Role
We are a growing staffing agency looking for a motivated Recruitment & Business Development Specialist to help us attract qualified candidates and develop new client relationships.
This is a combined recruitment and sales position. You will source and place candidates while also contacting prospective clients, learning about their staffing needs, and converting opportunities into active accounts.
You do not need to be a senior recruiter. However, you must have at least one year of relevant experience within a staffing agency or a transportation, trucking, logistics, warehousing, or related company. You should be comfortable speaking with new clients, making outbound calls, following up consistently, and working toward measurable recruitment and sales targets.
Responsibilities
Recruitment
- Manage the full recruitment process, including job postings, candidate sourcing, screening, interviews, reference checks, offers, placements, and follow-up.
- Recruit for transportation, logistics, warehousing, administrative, and other client positions.
- Develop candidate pipelines for frequently requested and difficult-to-fill roles.
- Use job boards, social media, referrals, direct outreach, networking, and community contacts to find candidates.
- Evaluate candidates for relevant experience, licences, availability, reliability, and client requirements.
- Coordinate interviews, onboarding documentation, placements, and start dates.
- Follow up with placed employees and clients to support successful placements and retention.
Business Development
- Identify prospective clients that could benefit from temporary, permanent, or contract staffing services.
- Conduct outbound prospecting through telephone calls, email, LinkedIn, referrals, networking, and in-person visits where appropriate.
- Speak with decision-makers to understand their hiring challenges and workforce requirements.
- Present our staffing services clearly and explain how we can help clients fill positions.
- Schedule and participate in client meetings, prepare proposals, and follow up on opportunities.
- Negotiate service terms and pricing within approved company guidelines.
- Convert qualified prospects into active clients and job orders.
- Develop existing accounts by identifying additional staffing opportunities.
- Maintain consistent follow-up with prospects, clients, candidates, and placed employees.
- Record recruitment and sales activity accurately in our applicant-tracking or CRM system.
- Work toward agreed targets for outreach, meetings, new accounts, job orders, placements, and revenue.
Required Qualifications
- At least one year of professional experience within:
- a staffing or employment agency; or
- a transportation, trucking, logistics, warehousing, distribution, or related company.
- Some practical experience in recruitment, staffing, sales, account management, customer acquisition, or business development.
- Comfortable making outbound calls and approaching prospective clients.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to manage both candidate recruitment and client-development activities.
- Organized and able to manage multiple vacancies, candidates, leads, and deadlines.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working toward measurable targets.
- Experience using a CRM, applicant-tracking system, recruitment database, or similar software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience selling staffing, recruitment, transportation, logistics, or other business-to-business services.
- Experience recruiting drivers, warehouse employees, dispatchers, logistics personnel, administrative employees, or other hourly workers.
- Familiarity with transportation-related licences, driver abstracts, safety requirements, or compliance documents.
- An existing network within the Lower Mainland’s transportation, logistics, or light-industrial sectors.

Compensation
The base salary for this position is $55,000–$65,000 per year, depending on relevant experience. The successful candidate will also be eligible for Recruitment Commissions and performance bonuses.
Performance will be evaluated using a balanced combination of recruitment quality, successful placements, client acquisition, revenue, account development, and candidate retention.
Schedule: Primarily in office work with occasional customer visits
