Title: Childcare Provider
Reports To: Coordinator of Lifespan Religious Exploration(CLRE)
Hours: An average of 2.5 - 3 hours on Sundays, with additional hours offered through the year (some evenings)
Remuneration: $19.25 - $21.75
Childcare Providers offer a safe, healthy, nurturing environment for children aged newborn to three years of age on Sunday mornings, and children up to 12 during additional church activities / meetings / services.
Prior to hiring, Child Abuse Registry and Police Record checks must be completed.A Child Abuse Registry check will be completed every two years thereafter.
Responsibilities
- Nurture a welcoming environment and help families of all configurations feel part of the Religious Exploration (RE) program.
- Collaborate with other Childcare Provider staff and Religious Exploration volunteers.
- Supervise and care for children in the nursery, including changing diapers, comforting crying children, interacting with children, and giving them a snack/drink if necessary.
- Plan age appropriate activities for the children in attendance each week
- Perform first aid for minor accidents and illness care for children who become ill and inform the CLRE (or Substitute) as soon as possible.
- Communicate with parents at time of drop off and pick up regarding the needs of the child and to inform parents of how the child did while in the room.
- Understand the church’s emergency evacuation procedures.
- Maintain attractive, sanitary, orderly Nursery and RE Supply rooms with all equipment and supplies in good condition.
- Conduct Nursery and RE Supply room inventory checks and inform the CLRE when supplies/equipment are needed or are in disrepair.
- Communicate to the CLRE (or Substitute) any childcare needs or issues and all accidents or unusual occurrences involving children.
- Maintain attendance records.
- Help ensure that all children are registered in the RE program
- Complete hours sheet, and deliver to the CLRE mail folder on the last Sunday of the month.
- If unable to work a scheduled shift, arrange for a replacement from within the current childcare staff. If unable to find a replacement, contact the CLRE.
- Attend Childcare staff team meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned by the CLRE.
- Lead the RE Sunday lesson with assistance from a volunteer, following the required training.
