General Purpose of Position:
Drivers are responsible for picking up and delivering freight from one place to another (usually from the store to customers home/job site). In addition, drivers are responsible for loading and unloading their cargo. They are also responsible for following applicable laws, keeping logs of their activities, and making sure that their equipment is in good working condition.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
· Delivering lumber, materials and other orders to customers; ensuring completion of paperwork, such as delivery confirmations and receipts
· Pre-delivery fueling of the vehicle, safety inspections of vehicle, paperwork associated with the delivery
· Safe and proper operation of company vehicles
· Assisting with customers in the yard, ensuring lumber and materials are in the appropriate location; proper housekeeping of yard and store front, etc;
· Loading and unloading delivery truck
· Readily accepts additional responsibilities and duties as assigned
Skills and Competencies:
· Strong communication both written and verbal
· Ensuring all customers inquiries are dealt with and processed on a timely basis
· Self-motivated individuals who are able to work well with little supervision
· Excellent customer services, self-confidence, initiative, tact and a neat appearance
· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed
· Able to prioritize; manage time and orchestrate multiple tasks
Requirements:
· Class 5 Drivers License with a clean abstract
· Class 3 Drivers License with Air Endorsement with a clean abstract
· Attends and participates in all scheduled training and company meetings.
· Be prepared to work in all types of weather
· Forklift experience an asset
