- Operate and maintain 6 colors with the maximum sheet run size of 28x40’’ IN Mitsubishi and KOMORI.
- Should be able to make required changes on press imposition or color set up to get customer’s required job quality
- Must know about plate punching and installing/loading the plates on the press, adjust the cylinders accordingly
- At the end of the shift pressman is required to clean the press: rollers, changes blankets, remove ink from the machine parts and keep press area neat and clean
- Should know how to use AQ coating
- Make work schedule to get maximum production throughout the shift and prioritize rush jobs, plan, and organize jobs as per their sheet sizes, paper thickness and coating features.
- Review job orders to determine any special printing instructions, stock specifications, colors, or quantities to be printed.
- Fill ink fountains and purchase or mix inks throughout the week as needed. Adjust flow rates of ink fountains to achieve the desired flow amount for each press run.
- Start presses and check proofs for ink alignment, registration, density, and coverage. Adjust as needed.
- Load paper onto presses, adjusting when necessary to accommodate various paper sizes. Adjust printing plate tolerances to meet the desired parameters for each press run.
- Clean printing unit cylinders, plates, and ink fountains at the completion of each press run.
- Monitor and respond to error, alert, or fault messages on automated press operation systems; make minor repairs to oil presses and other equipment as needed using hand tools.
- Feed paper through press cylinders, adjusting tension and feed controls as needed.
