We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to join our Bookkeeping Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and bookkeeping, with proficiency in various accounting software platforms. This role offers an opportunity to manage complex financial records, ensure accuracy in financial reporting, and support the overall financial health of the organization. The Senior Bookkeeper should have a combination of technical accounting knowledge, software expertise, leadership ability, client service skills, and strong organizational discipline.

Leadership Skills

Canadian Tax Knowledge
Strong working knowledge of:
- GST/HST rules
- Payroll remittances
- T4 preparation
- T4A preparation
- T5018 slips
- ROE processing
- WCB reporting
- Source deductions
Payroll Qualifications
Should understand:
- Canadian payroll legislation
- Vacation pay
- Statutory holiday calculations
- Overtime rules
- Benefits and taxable benefits
- CPP/EI calculations
- Provincial payroll rules
- Multi-province payroll
Qualifications
Diploma or certificate in:
- 5–10 years bookkeeping experience
- 3+ years full cycle bookkeeping
- Accounting, Bookkeeping, Business Administration, Finance, College education preferred
- Advanced accounting courses are a strong asset
- Experience managing multiple clients/files and handling year-end preparation
- Extremely detail oriented, highly organized, deadline driven, able to multitask, accurate under pressure
- Reliable and accountable, self-motivated, able to work independently
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to build trust with clients and work with accountants
Professional Certifications (Preferred)
- Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) through the CPB Canada
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) through the National Payroll Institute
- QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification
- Xero Advisor certification
- Sage certification
- Microsoft Office Specialist (Excel)
Accounting Software Experience
Advanced experience with:
- QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Sage 50, Sage 300, Xero, Microsoft Excel
Additional Systems (Strong Assets)
- Dext, Hubdoc, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, ERP systems, Shopify reporting, POS, systems, construction accounting systems, property management software
