Aplin has partnered with our client to hire a high-performing Business Development Representative to drive growth across one of the most active oil & gas production regions in North America. Their technology enhances production solutions for upstream operations, with a focus on reliability, efficiency, and long-term cost savings.
This is a hunter role—focused on identifying, pursuing, and winning new business across the oil & gas sector, with particular emphasis on production and field operations.
You will sell production optimization solutions that help producers improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, and optimize processes.
Backed by a strong internal technical team (engineers and technologists), you will act as a trusted advisor to field personnel, operations teams, engineers, and corporate decision-makers.
While some existing accounts are provided, your primary focus is on generating new business and expanding market presence throughout the territory.
Success requires solid understanding of oil & gas production environments, field processes, and the operational challenges producers face daily. Candidates with direct experience in upstream production, midstream facilities, or field operations will be best positioned to succeed.
Who You Are
Must-Have:
- Proven outside sales and business development success
- Documented track record of consistently generating new business and growing revenue
- Strong prospecting, relationship-building, and closing skills
- 5+ years of sustained sales success
- Ability to work independently and manage a large territory
- Solid grasp of the oil & gas industry
Preferred:
- Production knowledge: Understanding of upstream operations—how wells are produced and common challenges
- Customer insight: Familiarity with producer pain points around reliability, efficiency, and operational performance
- Industry relationships: Existing connections with producers, operators, and field personnel in the region
- Sales experience: Background selling industrial, mechanical, production, or technical solutions
- Technical aptitude: Ability to hold an educated conversation about production oil & gas
Key Success Factors:
- New Business Development – Prospecting, acquiring new customers, winning retrofits and standardization deals
- Proven Sales Performance – Strong history of revenue growth; ability to clearly articulate past achievements
- Oil & Gas Production Knowledge – Understand producing wells, operations, and real-world customer challenges
- Industry Relationships – Existing credibility and contacts within the region
Lead Generation & Sales Approach:
- CRM provided for account management
- Company provides market intelligence, activity reports, and target account data
- You identify opportunities and build relationships through both field and corporate channels
- Heavy emphasis on proactive prospecting—not lead servicing
Training & Support:
- Comprehensive onboarding and ongoing support from:
- Vice President of Sales
- Canadian Sales Manager
- Technical specialists
- Engineers and technologists
- Joint customer calls and field coaching during ramp-up
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base salary: Flexible based on experience
- Total compensation target: $140,000 – $200,000+
- Quarterly and annual performance bonus (tied primarily to revenue growth and business development activity)
