About the Role
We are looking for a motivated Junior Concrete Finisher who is eager to hone their craft and grow with us. This isn't just a labour job; it’s an opportunity to master the artistry and technical skills of high-quality architectural and structural concrete under the mentorship of senior finishers.
Your primary duties include:
- Placing and Screeding: Assist with pouring, spreading, raking and screeding concrete to specified depths and grades before finishing begins.
- Finishing : Learn and execute foundational finishing tasks, including hand-troweling, edging, jointing and applying broom or textured finishes on residential and commercial projects.
- Site Preparation: Help the crew with setting forms, tying rebar, sub-grade basework and troubleshooting site layout details.
- Tool and Site Care: Maintain, clean and store specialized finishing tools (mag floats, trowels, edgers) properly to ensure their longevity. Leave every job site cleaner and better than you found it.
- Safety and Synergy: Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, wear mandatory PPE (Stele vest, steel-toed boots and pants) and collaborate seamlessly with the crew to hit pour windows safely.

- The Apprentice Mindset: You already have a solid foundation in concrete placing or labour and possess a sharp eye for detail and a strong desire to become an elite finisher.
- Crew Integrity: You are highly punctual and reliable. At Stele, arriving 15 minutes before the scheduled start time is our mandatory baseline. We respect our team's time and expect you to do the same.
- Physical and Mental Toughness: You are physically fit, capable of lifting and moving up to 50 pounds regularly, and ready to perform demanding physical labour outdoors in various Alberta weather conditions.
- Professional Conduct: You fit into our culture of mutual respect, honest communication and professional client interactions.
- Credentials: You possess a valid driver's license and have independent, reliable transportation to get to worksites across the Edmonton region.
Experience and Qualifications
- Concrete Industry Experience: 1–3 years of hands-on experience in concrete construction (placing, formwork or basic finishing) is required.
- Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with standard hand tools, vibrators and concrete saws is an asset.
- Certifications: First Aid or CSTS certification is considered a strong asset.
Schedule and Commitment
- Availability: This is a seasonal role for the construction season. You must be willing to work overtime and weather-dependent weekends to ensure projects are completed to specification.
- Payroll Note: Stele Concrete pays bi-weekly via direct deposit. Please note that we maintain a strict policy and do not offer cash advances or early wage payouts.
Employees may be required to perform other duties as assigned. Experience in the concrete industry is required. Experience operating other heavy machinery is an asset.
