Overview
We are an indigenous owned company seeking a skilled and reliable Excavator/Equipment Operator to join our growing team. You will need experience operating heavy machinery, including excavators, skid steers, and other construction equipment. The ideal candidate is safety conscious and takes pride in producing clean, accurate work. You will work alongside a crew operating heavy equipment on a variety of residential and commercial projects.
Duties
- Operate excavators and other heavy equipment on residential and commercial job sites.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment.
- Provide your own transportation to and from various job sites.
- Excavate to grade using site plans, grade stakes, and laser levels.
- Backfill, compact, load trucks, and complete final grading.
- Work safely around underground utilities and follow safety procedures.
- Operate other equipment such as skid steer, track dumper, and compactor as needed.
- Assist with general labour activities and collaborate with the crew.
- Maintain a clean work environment and adhere to all safety regulations on site.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment such as excavators and skid steers.
- Experience loading trucks, trenching, backfilling, and final grading.
- Knowledge of proper compaction techniques and soil conditions.
- Experience with site preparation, including stripping topsoil and grading.
- Ability to read and interpret grade stakes, utility locates and excavate to precise grades using laser levels.
- Experience working safely around underground utilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while communicating effectively with the crew.
- Daily equipment inspection and basic maintenance such as greasing, fluid checks, and identifying mechanical issues.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks in outdoor environments for extended periods.
Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
Experience:
- Excavator Operating: 3 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Class 5 Licence (required)
- Heavy haul trailer endorsement (preferred)
