Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our pharmacy operations, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of medications to patients. This role does not involve direct patient interaction, as Technicians operate within the dispensary area of the pharmacy, which is separate from the space accessible to the public. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, patient care, and various pharmacy practices, including the preparation and final prescription check of OAT (Opioid Agonist Therapy), Hepatitis C treatment, and automated strip packaging medications for supportive housing sites. Candidates with experience in complex care environments are highly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently.
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing inquiries and ensuring patient needs are met.
- Maintain accurate records of medication administration, inventory, and destruction.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care in acute care settings.
- Manage inventory levels, including ordering and restocking medications as necessary.
- Stay updated on medical terminology and pharmacy regulations to ensure compliance with provincial and federal laws.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Regulated Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) and in good standing with the College.
- Previous pharmacy technician experience is required; LTC pharmacy or hospital experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medication administration processes.
- Familiarity with critical care practices and acute care environments is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of patient service.
