Mississauga Convention Centre is hiring an experienced Chef specializing in Continental cuisine. If you are passionate about creating high-quality international dishes and have strong experience in banquet, catering, and large-scale food production, we want to hear from you.
You will be part of a busy, high-volume kitchen preparing exceptional meals for weddings, corporate events, banquets, and special functions while maintaining the highest standards of quality, presentation, and food safety.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook a variety of Continental dishes including appetizers, soups, salads, pasta, seafood, poultry, meat entrées, and desserts
Ensure consistency in taste, portion control, presentation, and overall food quality
Prepare food for high-volume banquets, weddings, corporate events, and catering operations
Assist in menu planning, recipe development, and food presentation
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety
Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
Support daily kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment
Assist with inventory control, ordering, proper storage, and FIFO stock rotation
Minimize food waste and maintain cost-effective food production
Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure smooth production and timely service
Ensure attractive food presentation and adherence to event specifications
Qualifications:
Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Chef specializing in Continental cuisine
Strong knowledge of Continental cooking techniques, sauces, soups, pasta, meat, poultry, and seafood preparation
Experience in banquet, catering, hotel, convention centre, or high-volume kitchen environments
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
Food Handler Certification required
WHMIS Certification is an asset
Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality
Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills
Physically able to stand for long periods and perform kitchen-related duties
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in banquet and catering operations
Menu planning and food costing experience
Experience supervising or mentoring kitchen staff
Knowledge of international cuisines and dietary accommodations
Culinary certification is considered an asset
