Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dependable Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills to maintain and repair heavy machinery and industrial equipment. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of industrial maintenance practices, schematics, and systems such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), CMMS, HVAC, welding, boilers, and low voltage electrical systems. The Heavy Duty Mechanic will play a critical role in ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and reliability of our manufacturing processes. Excellent communication skills in English and a customer service mindset are essential for collaborating effectively with team members and supporting operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance and industrial equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using schematics and analysis skills.
- Utilize logic controllers (PLCs) and low voltage systems to diagnose and resolve automation problems.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Conduct welding, boiler maintenance, HVAC servicing, and other specialized repairs as needed.
- Operate and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and diagrams to facilitate effective repairs.
- Assist with equipment installation, changeovers, and upgrades to optimize manufacturing operations.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations during all maintenance activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing equipment performance data and recommending solutions.
- Collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and maximize productivity through proactive maintenance.
Experience
- Proven experience in industrial maintenance or heavy machinery repair within manufacturing environments.
- Strong electrical experience including low voltage systems, PLC programming, and troubleshooting.
- Skilled in welding, boiler operation/maintenance, HVAC systems, and mechanical repairs.
- Familiarity with CMMS software for work order management and maintenance scheduling.
- Ability to read schematics, technical manuals, and electrical diagrams accurately.
- Experience working with industrial electrician practices and analysis skills for complex troubleshooting.
- Prior customer service experience is a plus for effective communication with team members across departments.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to industrial maintenance is essential for maintaining a safe work environment.
