Overview
We are willing to train, but prefer a skilled and detail-oriented Meat Cutter to join our team although it is preferred but not expected to apply for the position. The ideal candidate will have experience in food preparation and butchery, with a strong focus on food safety and quality. This role involves preparing, cutting, and packaging meat products to meet customer specifications while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety. The Meat Cutter will contribute to providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the efficient operation of our meat department.
Duties
- Cut, trim, and prepare various types of meat according to established standards and customer requests
- Ensure all meat products are handled safely and stored properly in compliance with food safety regulations
- Package meat products accurately for retail sale or wholesale distribution
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, tools, and equipment in accordance with health and safety guidelines
- Assist customers with product selection and provide knowledgeable customer service
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate stock needs
- Follow proper food handling procedures during all stages of meat processing
- Support Clerks in serving customers when needed
Experience
- Prior experience in the food industry, particularly in butchery or meat cutting, is highly preferred
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper sanitation practices
- Experience with food handling, packaging, and presentation techniques
- Familiarity with kitchen environments and food preparation processes is a plus
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting
- Excellent customer service skills to assist clients effectively
