RESIDENTIAL ELECTRICIAN (JOURNEYPERSON)

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Residential Electrician (Journeyperson) to join our growing team.
Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent
POSITION SUMMARY
The Residential Electrician (Journeyperson) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems in residential homes and multi-unit residential properties. The successful candidate will ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, company standards, and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and electrical code requirements to determine wiring layouts and installation procedures.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair residential electrical systems, including wiring, outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, service panels, and electrical controls.
- Perform rough-in and finish electrical work for new residential construction, renovations, and service upgrades.
- Install and connect electrical equipment such as smoke detectors, ceiling fans, generators, EV chargers, and smart home systems.
- Test electrical systems and circuits using appropriate diagnostic equipment to ensure safety, functionality, and code compliance.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical faults and service issues in residential settings.
- Complete panel upgrades, service installations, and electrical inspections as required.
- Ensure all work complies with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and workplace health and safety regulations.
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, contractors, inspectors, and team members.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and service reports.
- Operate company vehicles, tools, and equipment safely and responsibly.
- Participate in after-hours or emergency service work as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid Construction and Maintenance Electrician (309A) Certificate of Qualification.
- Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification in good standing.
- Minimum 3–5 years of residential electrical experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and residential wiring practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Valid Class G driver's licence with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in occupied homes, new construction sites, and renovation environments.
- Frequent standing, climbing ladders, kneeling, bending, and working in confined spaces.
- Occasional overtime or after-hours service work may be required.
- Regular travel throughout Sarnia-Lambton, Middlesex County, and surrounding areas is required.
