Apex Trailer Group is looking for an experienced and motivated Lead Hand Heavy Duty Truck Technician to help lead the expansion of truck repair services within our Calgary shop.
We have built a strong reputation for quality trailer and transport refrigeration repairs, and we are now looking for the right technician to help us grow our heavy-duty truck repair capabilities.
This is a hands-on position for an experienced technician who takes pride in quality work, enjoys solving complex mechanical problems, and is ready to take on a leadership role within a growing company.
What You’ll Do
As the Lead Hand Heavy Duty Truck Technician, you’ll play a key role in developing our truck repair department by:
- Inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty trucks
- Performing repairs on engines, brakes, suspensions, steering, drivetrains, electrical systems, air systems, and emissions systems
- Completing preventative maintenance and safety inspections
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues accurately and efficiently
- Helping organize daily workflow and assign work to technicians and apprentices
- Supporting, mentoring, and providing technical guidance to other team members
- Reviewing completed repairs to ensure quality and accuracy
- Ensuring all work meets safety standards and regulatory requirements
- Working closely with management to help develop and grow the truck repair side of the business
- Working alongside our established trailer and transport refrigeration technicians
What We’re Looking For
- Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification with a Truck and Transport Mechanic designation
- Strong experience diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty trucks
- Previous Lead Hand, supervisory, or mentoring experience is an asset
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Experience with diesel engines, air brakes, suspension, steering, drivetrain, and emissions systems
- CVIP licence is a must
- Ability to organize work, communicate clearly, and help lead a team
- A commitment to safety, quality, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and lead by example
- Positive attitude and a strong work ethic
