Job Summary
Tony’s Meats is seeking an experienced and energetic individual to provide on floor leadership and support to their production team. Established in 1963, Tony’s Meats Ltd. is a privately owned federally registered, SQF and Halal certified company located in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada. Tony’s Meats produces and distributes an extensive selection of quality raw and fully cooked further processed meat products under the Tony’s MeatsTM and Mr. DonairTM brands as well as many private label brands through both food service and retail establishments across Canada.
Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for directing and supervising the daily floor operations of the production line(s) they are responsible for. This individual must lead by example and ensure their department is meeting daily targets and producing the safest and highest quality product possible.
Wage: $19- $22 to start (based on experience)
Hours: 6:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (or until Production is finished)
Monday through Friday
Duties
1. Provide on floor training, supervision, direction and leadership to personnel across all production departments.
2. Ensure staffing allocations at all work stations meet company targets.
3. Provide guidance to sanitation personnel.
4. Monitor employee behavior to ensure company HR policies are being adhered to. Report violations to the Assistant Production Manager. (eg. lates, insubordination).
5. Work with the Production Manager, Assistant Production Manager and other Line Supervisors to establish and maintain efficient work flow and meet production, quality and food safety demands.
6. Monitor all processes to ensure equipment SOP’s are being followed.
7. Monitor and ensure all required paperwork is being filled out accurately and completely
8. Daily monitoring of raw ingredients, in-process ingredients, and rework (where applicable).
9. Assist with new line or process setup to maximize efficiencies and achieve productivity goals.
10. Resolve production issues where possible and relay all information to management
11. Provide updates on any mechanical issues to Assistant Production Manager and Maintenance for timely resolution
12. Fill out maintenance reports for damaged equipment and required repairs and report to maintenance
13. Provide mechanical operation and repair support when maintenance is unavailable or during emergency breakdown situations
14. Participate in or lead productivity and quality improvement projects.
15. Ensure that employees are working safely according to OHS practices
16. Fill in on production line during labour shortage situations
Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Post-Secondary education in a related field an asset
- Minimum of two years of experience in a food production environment
- Knowledge of GMP’s, HACCP and plant sanitation
- Knowledge of Ready-To-Eat meat processing and packaging techniques an asset
- Previous experience in a Supervisory role is an asset
- Physically fit and able to lift at least 35lbs
- Willingness to work under refrigerated conditions
Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
