The Department of Geography & Environment at Western University is seeking a Research Assistant to support ongoing research activities within Dr. Godwin Arku’s projects.
The Research Assistant will assist with a range of research tasks, including data collection, organization and analysis, literature searches, recruitment of participants, conducting interviews, and preparation of research materials. The successful candidate will work independently on assigned tasks while also collaborating with the research team as required.
Qualifications
Education:
- Undergraduate Degree in Geography, Health Sciences, Computer Science, Epidemiology, Data Science, Public Health, or a related field
- Masters preferred in Geography, Health Sciences, Computer Science, Epidemiology, Data Science, Public Health, or a related field
Experience:
- Demonstrated graduate-level academic background preferred
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and meet established deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to accurate research practices
- Experience with Microsoft Office or comparable software
- Experience with research methods, data analysis, GIS, or other relevant technical skills would be considered an asset
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Conduct literature searches and reviews using academic databases and other research resources
- Assist with collecting, organizing, cleaning, and managing research data
- Support quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis as directed
- Assist with preparing tables, figures, summaries, and other research materials
- Maintain organized research files, records, and documentation
- Recruitment of participants
- Conducting interviews
- Assist with research-related administrative and organizational tasks
- Contribute to the preparation of presentations, reports, manuscripts, and other research outputs
- Attend research meetings and provide updates on assigned activities
- Perform other research-related duties as required by the supervisor
Working Environment
The Research Assistant will work under the direction of the research supervisor and may work independently as well as collaboratively with other members of the research team. Duties may be completed in person, remotely, or through a combination of both, depending on project requirements.
