We are looking for an Assistant Supervisor in an entry to senior-level, central role in construction projects. This role may require construction knowledge, experience, and project management skills, as these professionals are responsible for leading the rest of the team. You will oversee the different stages of the construction process and ensure that a construction team completes a building project within a set timeline.
The ideal candidate for Grascan Construction Ltd. will bring a versatile array of hands-on skill sets to the site, working directly with our crews in excavation, grading, and site preparation. You must possess a strong grasp of how to effectively manage and collaborate with subcontractors.
Mandatory Requirement: You must have a thorough understanding of site grades and demonstrate ability to accurately read and interpret construction drawings.
Responsibilities
· Site & Subcontractor Management: Responsible for some subcontractor supervision and administration including, defining work scope, answering inquiries and monitoring progress.
· Project Oversight: Assists Site-Supervisor in managing, oversight and reporting overall project performance, schedule, and quality.
· Hands-On Execution: Work hands-on directly alongside crews to support excavation, grading, and site preparation activities.
· Field Operations: Responsible for conducting accurate field measurements to support ongoing site work.
· Documentation & Compliance: Ensure up-to-date permits, locates and other critical site documents. Report and document any accidents, claims, utility strikes, or other unforeseen site conditions.
· Safety & Quality Assurance: Perform safety audits, submissions, inspects, etc. as required to assist the Project Manager / Site-Supervisor.
· Project Closeout: Manage and execute the completion of site deficiencies to ensure successful project closeout.
Requirements
· Experience: 3 - 5 years construction experience.
· Vehicle: Must own a vehicle for transportation to and from sites
· Technical Expertise (Mandatory): Must be able to read construction drawings and understand grades.
· Hands-On Capabilities: Comfortable and capable of working directly with crews in heavy civil tasks like excavation, site preparation, and grading.
· Subcontractor Relations: Demonstrated experience directing, managing, and working efficiently with various subcontractors.
· Leadership: Must be capable to direct a team to achieve set goals within a time frame. Ability to manage and inspire the team by showing your dedication and work ethic. Have the capacity to make accurate and informed decisions, enact quality standards, and enforce safety and compliance measures. Constantly review individual and collective progress and plan better methods to complete the project.
· Risk Management: Safety conscious – must be alert, careful, practical and observe all safety protocols on site. Must have the ability to anticipate, avoid, and mitigate risks in a construction project.
· Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Must have the ability to convey necessary information to employers, contractors, or any relevant third party. As a leader, you consider other team members when making plans. You also provide constructive feedback so that the team becomes more motivated to work on the project.
Pay: $50,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
