About Canpac Marine Services Inc.
Canpac Marine Services Inc. is based in the Port of Vancouver, Canada, and has been providing marine services to inland, coastal, and offshore sectors since 1965. Canpac operates a fleet of specialized vessels ranging from 150 to 3,000 tonnes, conducting material delivery, subsea inspection, repair, maintenance, and construction of marine assets from the surface to depths of 6,000 metres.
Position Overview
Canpac Marine is currently seeking motivated and reliable Deckhands and Deckhands with SVMO certification to join our growing team.
This is a hands-on position requiring physical fitness, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work safely and effectively in a marine environment.
Candidates must be available to travel and mobilize on or around July 4, 2026.
Responsibilities
Vessel Maintenance
- Maintain the cleanliness and general upkeep of the vessel, including decks, accommodations, and equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance duties such as painting, chipping, greasing, and cleaning.
- Assist with vessel and equipment repairs as directed.
- Maintain ropes, cables, rigging, and other deck equipment.
Deck Operations
- Assist with docking and undocking operations, including line handling and fender placement.
- Load and unload cargo, supplies, and equipment.
- Stand watch and monitor vessel operations as assigned.
- Operate deck machinery such as winches, cranes, and capstans (training provided where required).
- Assist with navigation and lookout duties.
Safety & Emergency Response
- Participate in vessel safety drills and training exercises.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Follow all company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
- Report hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions to the Captain or Mate.
- Assist with emergency response activities when required.
Other Duties
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Captain, Mate, or Vessel Superintendent.
Qualifications
Required:
- MED (Marine Emergency Duties) / STCW certification for international voyages
- Transport Canada Bridge Watch Rating Certification
- Valid Seafarer's Medical with no restrictions
- WHMIS Certification
- Valid passport and ability to travel internationally
- Ability to work rotational schedules and extended periods offshore
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions
Assets:
- SVMO Certification
- Previous deckhand or marine industry experience
- Experience operating deck machinery and handling cargo operations
- Basic understanding of vessel operations and marine safety procedures
