DASC (Dartmouth Adult Services Centre) is a non-profit vocational day program for adults with an intellectual disability. The mission of DASC, in association with its community, is to provide opportunities for adults with an intellectual disability and support them in realizing their individual potential. Through a variety of vocational day programs and community employment programs, DASC ensures that each client has the support they need to realize their true potential and become active members of their community.
Who we are looking for
DASC is currently looking for an enthusiastic, energetic individual committed to the vision, values and philosophy of inclusion to join our Individual Support team. As an Individual Support staff, you will provide care and support within the program options offered by DASC’s multi disciplinary team to persons with an intellectual disability, fragile health and complex needs. Reporting to the Off-Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of plans that provide recreation, leisure support and social inclusion within the community to the clients we serve.
The ideal candidate must possess excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and be particularly skilful at inspiring and motivating others. The ability to relate positively with individuals with an intellectual disability and work both as part of a team and independently are further qualities needed to be successful. This can be a physically-demanding job that necessitates a high level of energy and flexibility.
Qualifications:
· University degree, NSCC Res/Voc Program
· Therapeutic Recreation education/experience an asset
· Minimum 2 years experience working with individuals with an intellectual disability and fragile health
· Seven Provincial Competencies
· Current Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
· Vehicle and valid driver’s license, clean driving abstract and current vehicle insurance
