JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Rental Program Supervisor and Mechanic is responsible for providing prompt, courteous and efficient service to customers. Duties include advising customers on appropriate rental equipment and accessories, processing contracts and transactions (cash, credit card, debit card) using retail and rental software, cleaning, repairing, and inspecting rental equipment to ensure operational standards, general housekeeping of the rental area, loss prevention, restocking, and staying current with industry trends. The Rental Program Supervisor performs all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to support store efficiency and a high level of customer service.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure rental equipment is properly displayed and maintained.
- Assist customers with finding all items needed to complete their project.
- Assist customers with carrying out large or heavy items.
- Demonstrate to the customer how to safely operate all pieces of equipment that are rented.
- Always take appropriate safety precautions when demonstrating or testing equipment.
- Pick, organize and verify orders for delivery and pick-up.
- Clean, inspect, and prepare tools for rental.
- Repair all equipment as needed.
- Inspect all tools upon return for damage prior to returning the deposit to the customer.
- Process tool rental transactions
- Record missed rentals.
- Check returned equipment against the contract for missed accessories or customer damage.
- Work together with the store manager to resolve missing rentals, damaged equipment, and low stock accessories.
- Keep stock in the rental area neat, clean, and orderly.
- Prepare and maintain a record of all rental equipment.
- Attend store meetings, training sessions, etc. as required.
- Work on additional duties and assignments as assigned by management.
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with provincial and federal safety legislation. Report any potential hazards and unsafe behavior to management to have the situation corrected.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School graduation or equivalent.
- Mechanical or ability to perform small repairs on equipment a must.
- Basic computer literacy (email, calendars, file management). Comfortable learning new software tools.
- Retail experience and operating a Point of Sale system an asset.
- Trade experience is an asset.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Friendly and helpful attitude toward customers.
- Excellent communication skills, including legible handwriting.
- Good mathematical skills.
- Knowledge of tools, including proper usage and basic maintenance.
- Ability to work co-operatively in a team atmosphere.
- Ability to multitask.
- Willingness to learn.
- Willingness to continually develop professional skills and knowledge base.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Some heavy lifting required.
- Bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
- Reports directly to the Store Manager.
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
