We have an opportunity for a Journeyperson Carpenter in the Commercial sector in the Calgary and surrounding region! We are seeking candidates who are skilled, knowledgeable, and driven to succeed in our business. We are proud of our remarkable Carlson team and are seeking an individual who leads by example and has a proven track record.
Specifically, the Journeyperson Carpenter will perform varied amount of Carpentry tasks within the realm of the construction site, as per guidance and direction of the Superintendent or Site Supervisor, some duties may include (and are not limited to):
- Read blueprints and establish the layout including selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work, and measuring and marking materials to avoid costly mistakes or omissions
- Check completed units to be sure they meet quality standards
- Lead by example for all site staff in quality and safety functions
- Follow national and local building codes and all safety regulations
- Concrete forming, establish layouts and placing of concrete
- Plywood backings, parapet assembly, hanging doors, installing hardware
- Installation of washroom partitions and accessories
- Millwork installation
- Install casings around windows, baseboards, etc.
- Small drywall projects
- Various handyperson tasks
- Adhoc tasks needing completion at the worksite
Requirements:
- Journeyperson Carpenter (ticketed) or non-ticketed with significant experience
- 5+ years experience in carpentry while in a commercial construction environment
- Aerial lift ticket, fall protection certification, and skid steer experience required
- Knowledge and experience in safety aspects while working in commercial construction setting
- Self-directed individual, who follows direction while leading by example
- Must have own basic tools
