Job Title: Structural Engineer, PENG
Department: Naval Architect
Responsibilities
- Assist with the design and development of marine and port structures.
- Support senior engineers through all project phases — concept, preliminary, and detailed design.
- Prepare technical deliverables such as drawings, design calculations, reports, and specifications.
- Participate in site inspections, condition assessments, and construction support activities.
- Collaborate with engineers, drafters, and other disciplines to deliver coordinated project outputs.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders under the guidance of senior staff.
- Contribute to proposal preparation, cost estimates, and other project documentation as required.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
- Occasional travel to project sites may be required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Ideally 2–5 years of relevant experience in the design or assessment of marine, coastal, or port
infrastructure.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration
- Familiarity with the MS Office environment, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of applicable design codes and standards.
- Some exposure to construction or site work in marine environments would be an asset.
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Organized, proactive, and eager to learn from senior engineers.
- Interest in developing long-term expertise in marine and port engineering
- Knowledge of Instrumentation and Controls design using standard software is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Classification society rules, codes, and standards, and international marine
rules and regulations; Marine detail design experience considered an advantage.
