We are currently seeking an Urban Development Planner to join our team. The Ideal candidate will have a solid background working in Planning field with in-depth knowledge of development approval process.
Responsibilities:
- Research and identify various planning, land development scenarios, market trends and opportunities for land acquisition.
- Manage applications (Official Plan Amendments, Plan of Subdivision, Site Plan approvals, Plan of Condominium, Site Plan Control, Minor Variance and Consent), approvals (Residential, Industrial, Commercial and Institutional Development Projects), and executive review.
- Exam and analyze complex planning proposals and recommendations, and preparations of recommended modifications and decisions.
- Coordinate with consulting teams and meet with project consultants, city staff, and other professional staff.
- Negotiate planning requirements and conditions to settle disputes and policy interpretations.
- Manage and maintain records such as inquiries, meetings, and reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned which are directly related to the major responsibilities of the job.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the Ontario Planning System, including Provincial Planning Policies, Ontario Planning Act, and the development approval process.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong work ethic with an attention to details and follow-ups.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels within, as well as, outside the company.
- Excellent managerial skills for handling multiple development projects under high-pressure environment.
- Proficient work skills of Microsoft office; SketchUp and Auto-CAD are assets.
- Good command of English is a must.
Qualifications:
- University degree in urban planning, community planning, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of progressive experience in the Planning Field and approvals.
- Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation.
- Class G driver’s license with access to a vehicle is an asset.
