We are currently seeking a professional, organized, and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse to join our RebalanceMD satellite office in the Comox Valley.
This is a part-time, hybrid position that combines hands-on clinical care with medical office administration. The role includes regular in-person work within the clinic as well as designated remote administrative work.
This position is ideal for an LPN who enjoys direct patient care but is also comfortable supporting physician schedules, referrals, documentation, patient communication, and the day-to-day operations of a medical office.
Position Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse plays an essential role in supporting both patient care and clinic operations.
The successful candidate will assist physicians during consultations, injection clinics, and minor procedures while also coordinating appointments, referrals, documentation, communication, and follow-up care.
This role requires someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism, empathy, confidentiality, and accuracy.
As a hybrid position, the role requires the ability to work effectively both independently from home and collaboratively in person at the RebalanceMD satellite office in Comox.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care and clinical support during physician consultation clinics, injection clinics, and minor procedures.
- Prepare patients, examination rooms, supplies, medications, and equipment for consultations and procedures.
- Assist physicians during injections and minor procedures while supporting patient safety, comfort, and education.
- Provide patients with clear pre-procedure and post-procedure instructions as directed by the treating physician.
- Coordinate care with physicians, hospital departments, allied health professionals, community providers, and the broader RebalanceMD team.
- Accurately document patient assessments, care provided, clinical communication, and required follow-up within the electronic medical record.
- Maintain appropriate infection prevention, cleaning, stocking, medication-handling, and clinical safety standards.
- Identify and communicate changes in a patient’s condition or other clinical concerns to the appropriate physician or healthcare provider.
- Work within the established LPN scope of practice and RebalanceMD policies and procedures.
- Greet, check in, and assist patients in a welcoming, respectful, and professional manner.
- Schedule, confirm, reschedule, and cancel appointments according to physician protocols and clinic workflows.
- Manage physician schedules, appointment waitlists, holds, and clinic changes.
- Answer incoming telephone calls, emails, and patient inquiries.
- Prepare patient charts and confirm that required forms, imaging, reports, referrals, and clinical information are available before appointments.
- Liaise with physicians, allied health professionals, pharmacies, hospitals, diagnostic imaging facilities, referring providers, and external clinics.
- Coordinate diagnostic imaging, procedures, external referrals, and allied health services as required.
- Prepare and distribute letters, forms, requisitions, patient instructions, and other documents at the direction of the physician or clinical team.
- Manage supplies and other routine clinic functions.
- Coordinate with RebalanceMD’s central referral, scheduling, and administrative teams as needed.
- Maintain reliable communication, confidentiality, accuracy, and productivity while working from home.
Qualifications and Skills
- Current registration and good standing as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
- Previous experience in an orthopedic, musculoskeletal, ambulatory, procedure-based, or specialty medical environment is preferred but not required.
- Previous medical clinic or healthcare administration experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience assisting with injections or minor procedures is an asset.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A professional, compassionate, and patient-focused approach.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accurate documentation and follow-through.
- Ability to recognize clinical concerns and escalate them appropriately.
- Proficiency with electronic medical record systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with the TELUS Collaborative Health Record is an asset.
- Ability to work independently while remaining connected and responsive to the broader clinical and administrative team.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, allied health professionals, hospital departments, patients, and external healthcare providers.
- Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing clinic needs and patient priorities.
- A reliable internet connection and an appropriate, private home workspace.
- Ability to attend the Comox clinic for scheduled in-person shifts.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with privacy requirements in both clinic and remote work environments.
