Morrice Transportation is seeking a reliable, independent customs professional to assist with ensuring that all shipments meet the applicable legal standards to facilitate the efficient transport of goods for our clients. The successful candidate will work as a member of our Operations Team to help ensure timely clearance of goods.
Candidates must possess the ability to read paperwork thoroughly and identify key characteristics to process ACE and ACI documents. The position will entail a candidate with strong clerical abilities to work in a fast-paced environment with resilient computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Strong attention to detail and accuracy is required for documentation and daily duties
Preference will be given to those who have or are working toward their Certified Customs Specialist designation.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Utilize electronic customs systems to generate clearance certifications for cross-border shipments with assigned computer applications to prepare customs documents, ensure compliance with all legislative authority, transmit documents to customs brokers and resolve any customs issues by issuing all necessary supporting documentation.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of import and export laws and regulations as they change and apply to the current cross-border model
- Liaise directly with drivers, customers, internal stakeholders and customs brokers to ensure all shipments that are imported or exported are done with minimal driver waiting time.
Job Requirements
- This position is for a customs professional with at least two years of experience with proven ability meet performance deadlines and adhere to all customer requirements
- Possess a strong understanding of the transportation industry and associated laws
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of individuals
- Have excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Proficient with the use of a computer, including Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Candidates with experience using the Emanifest portal within the Truckmate operating platform will be given preference
