Key Responsibilities
- Weld steel components into complete assemblies by following blueprints, specifications, and weld symbols.
- Plan layout and assembly operations by interpreting drawings and technical specifications.
- Design and use jigs/fixtures for efficient, accurate assembly and welding operations. Perform cutting, forming, and welding using appropriate equipment while meeting production schedules.
- Verify materials and finished products meet quality specifications through inspection.
- Maintain welding equipment through cleaning, troubleshooting, adjustments, and routine maintenance.
- Inspect welds, identify defects, and recommend corrective solutions to ensure compliance.
- Select proper welding methods and equipment based on metallurgy and technical requirements.
- Direct material handlers and other support personnel as needed.
- Place and weld materials together, ensuring they meet strict quality control standards.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols to fabricate products.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Welder Trade Certification and/or CWB certification is required
- 2+ years of experience as a fitter/welder in steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing is required.
- Ability to clearly interpret and understand blueprints, drawings, schematics and weld symbols.
- Strong understanding of mechanical fitting/welding techniques.
- Familiar with the set-up and operation of welding machines and other metal fabrication equipment.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job including standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 50 pounds, etc.
- Dexterity, attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Must be safety conscious and adhere to safety processes and policies.
Location, Shift, Hours of Work & Working Conditions
- Location: 23 Smith St., St. Catherines, ON L2P 3J7
- We are actively hiring for both the day and afternoon shift, working 44 hours per week: Monday to Thursday 5:30 am to 5:15 pm and Monday to Thursday 5:30 pm to 5:15 am
- May be required to work additional hours based on plant needs
- Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and industrial equipment.
- Requires standing, lifting, and walking throughout the shift.
