The Opportunity
The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the Company’s purchasing system and liaising with suppliers and internal customers.
Job Duties
Purchasing
- Communicate with suppliers via email, fax and phone
- Meet with suppliers as needed
- Arrange to send raw material samples, built samples and prototypes to suppliers
- Provide UPC information and product specification sheets to suppliers
- Adjust delivery dates for changes in production and forecast levels, expediting orders as needed and notifying appropriate parties via email
- Arrange pickups with carriers and review shipping documents from suppliers, updating purchase orders as needed, reviewing classifications for accuracy
- Forward Form A’s, OBL’s and related paperwork to brokers for custom clearances
- Follow-up with carriers and Brokers to track and expedite shipments
- Assist with the development of purchase controls and product setups
- Prepare purchase requisitions, including obtaining approval for non-stock items in excess of $2,500
- Enter and print purchase orders and distribute as appropriate
- Print, match and file receivers
- Participate in projects related to supplier development and cost reduction
- Monitor inventory levels of stock and non-stock material and plan purchasing activities
Reports
- Print aged raw material status reports for review
- Communicate weekly reporting on the current forecast as a percentage of the budget
Additional Duties
- Act as a back-up for the Quality Assurance Coordinator
- Maintain Material Safety Data Sheet binders including obtaining information for any new items
- Photograph new samples and send to Marketing for their reference
- Maintain the belt display room and update it seasonally
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Post secondary education in Supply Chain or relevant field would be an asset
- 2-3 years of experience working in a purchasing role
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and handle competing priorities
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders and work effectively with multiple departments and individuals
- Self motivated and able to work with minimal supervision or direction
- Positive attitude and service-oriented disposition, handles pressure well

We wholesale and manufacture goods under a number of trusted product lines. Our main business involves the manufacture and import of men's and women's belts, which we ship to customers throughout Canada and the United States. Our customers include all avenues of retail, including major department stores, specialty stores, as well as independent men's and ladies wear stores. We also manufacture and distribute a wide variety of small leather goods and accessories.
