Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Survey Crew Chief to lead our surveying team on various construction and development projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise in surveying tools and software, and a solid understanding of construction site operations. This role offers an opportunity to oversee field survey activities, ensure data accuracy, and coordinate with project teams to deliver precise survey results that meet project specifications.
Duties
- Lead and supervise survey crew members during field data collection activities on construction sites and land development projects.
- Operate and troubleshoot survey equipment such as total stations, GPS units, and data collectors.
- Collect, verify, and process spatial data for design, mapping, and construction purposes.
- Utilize AutoCAD, GIS (ArcGIS), and CAD software to prepare drawings, maps, and survey reports.
- Manage data entry, storage, and retrieval within databases and GIS systems to ensure data integrity.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand survey requirements and deliver accurate results within deadlines.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during all field operations.
- Maintain equipment calibration, perform routine inspections, and oversee maintenance schedules.
- Prepare detailed survey reports and documentation for project records.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Survey Crew Chief or similar role in construction or land surveying.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, CAD software, GIS applications, and data management systems.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes and site layout procedures.
- Ability to operate survey equipment such as total stations, GPS units, and data collectors effectively.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to supervise field crews efficiently.
- Familiarity with databases used for storing survey data.
- Construction experience is highly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in data collection and documentation.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel between job sites as needed.

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
