Role Description
This contract, full-time position, reporting to the Director of Care, is responsible for the promotion and implementation of nursing services which increase the quality of life for our residents. As a valued member of the management team, the Clinical Nurse Manager partners with the DOC to lead the nursing department by directing and supporting staff in providing care for residents’ physical, psychological and social needs.
Responsibilities are in accordance with the Long-Term Care Homes Act and include, but are not limited to:
· Provides direction to the nursing team in all aspects of resident care
· Interprets nursing philosophy, and in collaboration with the nursing team establishes and implements goals and objectives in collaboration with the DOC.
· Provides direction to Registered staff and front line staff in complex clinical cases
· Introduces new care programs and services based on best practices
· Interprets Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) legislative requirements to the nursing team and monitors compliance to requirements through continuous quality improvement activities
· Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate with staff, residents and families
· Provides leadership and acts as a role model when dealing with staff, resident, and family conflicts
· Acts as a coach for Nursing staff in the areas of personal and professional growth
· Provides direction and support to Registered staff in each program area (i.e.: Skin and Wound, Falls prevention, Incontinence Management, infection control). Takes the lead in committees as directed by the Director of Care.
· Promotes and fosters an environment where staff feel valued and involves staff at all levels with decision making
· Demonstrates sound knowledge of the Residents’ Bill of Rights and monitors care to ensure Rights of Residents are always respected and promoted
· Initiates and/or directs timely investigations of serious Residents issues including allegations of resident abuse in collaboration with the DOC
· Assumes acting role in the absence of the Director of Care.
The Clinical Nurse Manager acts as a professional role model for nursing staff and the ability to effectively communicate with residents, their families and all levels of staff while maintaining a positive, approachable demeanor is essential. The successful candidate will possess developed leadership, motivational, time management, decision making and problem solving skills along with demonstrated team building experience and a commitment to continuous quality improvement.
Qualifications
· Designation of Registered Nurse and current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
· 5 or more years of current clinical experience.
· 2 or more years of experience in a management role in Long Term Care
· Comprehensive knowledge of long-term care concepts, philosophies, and the LTCHA and regulations.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Previous knowledge of RAI –MDS is an asset.

Condition of work:
- Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours plus on-call coverage on rotational basis
- Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications, starting at 90k
