2 Busy Criminal Defence Lawfirms in a shared space are seeking a full time Receptionist for the building.
Day to day duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Courier duties
- picking up disclosure from the different Crown offices, from Legal Aid, from KB Mail
- paying bail and restitution at Provincial Court counter
- filing documents at either Provincial Court or Court of King’s Bench
- bank run
- registered mail run
2. Phone and Receptionist duties
- receiving clients to the building and alerting the appropriate party
- receive deliveries
- receive phone calls and direct to appropriate party
- receive phone calls and take comprehensive messages
- placing phone calls including
- -calling the Crown office to find out who the responsible Crown is
- -calling the Provincial Court to find out a client’s next court date
- -calling the jail to arrange a secure call with the lawyer
3. Boardroom duties
- Arranging for clients to review disclosure at the office – booking the boardroom, sanitizing the boardroom before and after, setting up the disclosure for the client to review, receiving the client and cleaning up after them
4. Other Administrative tasks as required for lawyers and legal staff in the building.
Skills Required:
- Be able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe, Google Calendar
- Be able to use a photocopier/printer/scanner/fax machine/multiline phone system
- Be able to clearly and respectfully communicate in English
This position requires attention to detail, the ability to multitask for multiple lawyers, and strict confidentiality. As such, we are seeking a person who is meticulous, reliable, and takes care and pride in their work.
Anticipated hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30am to 5pm with 1/2hr unpaid lunch break
Starting wage is $23/hr
