Job Overview – Concrete Batch Plant Operator
The Concrete Batch Plant Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate operation of a concrete batch (patch) plant to produce high-quality concrete products that meet project specifications and regulatory requirements. This role oversees batching, mixing, and loading operations while coordinating with dispatch, drivers, quality control, and site personnel to ensure timely delivery and consistent product quality.
The operator is accountable for monitoring plant equipment, maintaining accurate production records, and ensuring compliance with Ontario health and safety legislation, environmental regulations, and company policies. The position requires strong technical knowledge of concrete materials, attention to detail, and the ability to work in all weather conditions, including northern and remote work environments.
The Concrete Batch Plant Operator plays a critical role in supporting construction schedules by minimizing downtime, managing raw material inventories, and responding quickly to operational issues. This role may also provide leadership and guidance to plant labourers or loaders and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, efficiency, and quality control.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor a concrete batch plant to produce concrete in accordance with mix designs and specifications
- Batch, mix, and load concrete safely and accurately
- Coordinate production and deliveries with dispatch, drivers, and site personnel
- Conduct pre-operational equipment inspections and basic troubleshooting
- Maintain accurate batch tickets, production records, and material logs
- Ensure compliance with Ontario OHSA, MOL requirements, and company safety policies
- Monitor material inventory and report re-order needs
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized plant environment
- Adapt operations to weather and seasonal conditions, including winter operations
Experience Required
- Minimum 2–5 years experience operating a concrete batch plant or similar industrial batching facility
- Proven knowledge of concrete materials, mix designs, and batching procedures
- Experience working in construction, aggregate, or heavy industrial environments
- Familiarity with Ontario health and safety regulations and safe work practices
- Experience working in outdoor, all-season conditions; northern or remote work experience considered an asset
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and respond to operational issues independently
- Previous experience coordinating with dispatch and truck drivers preferred

Contract length: 6-8 months
Pay: $33.00-$50.00 per hour
