Sproat Lake Landing Resort has a seasonal summer position: Assistant Hotel Operations Manager, available from July 2026 until October 2026. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the hotel, including Front Desk, Housekeeping, Guest Rooms, and Coffee Shop operations. This role ensures exceptional guest service standards are maintained across all departments while assisting staff, supervising daily operations, and ensuring operational procedures are completed efficiently and consistently. The successful candidate will actively participate in daily operations by working front desk shifts, conducting guest room inspections following housekeeping service, and overseeing coffee shop closing procedures. This position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced hospitality environment. This role suits a recent Hotel Management graduate or Front Desk/Housekeeping Supervisor looking to expand their experience and progress within their hotel management career.

Key Responsibilities
Front Desk Operations
- Provide hands-on support and supervision for front desk operations during shifts
- Complete guest check-ins, check-outs, reservations, and payment processing
- Responsible for all communication with all hotel guests both direct booking & OTA
- Ensure exceptional guest service and professionally resolve guest concerns or complaints
- Train, coach, and support front desk staff on hotel policies, procedures, and service standards
- Monitor room availability, occupancy, and daily arrivals/departures
- Ensure accurate cash handling, balancing, and end-of-shift reporting procedures
- Maintain knowledge of hotel property management systems and booking platforms
- Coordinate communication between departments to ensure smooth guest experiences
- Ensure front desk opening and closing duties are completed accurately
Housekeeping & Guest Room Oversight
- Conduct detailed room inspections after housekeeping staff have completed cleaning
- Ensure guest rooms and public areas meet hotel cleanliness and presentation standards
- Monitor housekeeping productivity, room readiness, and inventory levels
- Assist with scheduling and assigning housekeeping duties as needed
- Identify maintenance issues and coordinate timely repairs with maintenance staff
- Ensure proper use of cleaning procedures, chemicals, and safety standards
- Support housekeeping staff during busy periods or staffing shortages
- Maintain quality assurance standards and ensure rooms are guest-ready at all times
Coffee Shop Operations
- Supervise afternoon coffee shop operations to ensure excellent customer service and efficiency
- Ensure food safety, sanitation, and health regulations are consistently followed
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs
- Verify daily closing procedures are completed properly & next day operations are set up correctly
- Ensure cleaning, restocking, and cash reconciliation duties are completed at end of shift
- Address customer concerns and maintain a welcoming atmosphere
Leadership & Administrative Duties
- Assist with staff supervision, scheduling, onboarding
- Lead by example through hands on participation in daily operations
- Support management in achieving day to day operational service goals
- Ensure compliance with hotel policies, workplace safety standards, and operational procedures
- Maintain effective communication between departments and management
- Complete reports, logs, and operational documentation accurately and on time
- Step into operational roles as needed to support business demands
Qualifications
- Previous hospitality supervisory or management experience required
- Experience in front desk, housekeeping ^ food and beverage operations required
- Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient computer skills and experience with hotel reservation systems preferred
- Schedule is evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically active duties when required
Work Environment
This is an active, hands-on operational role requiring the ability to move between departments throughout the day. The Assistant Hotel Operations Manager is expected to actively support staff and operations rather than solely perform administrative duties.
