Northstar Auto Group is looking for a Controller to lead the administration teams for our dealership in Calgary.
As the successful applicant you will perform a wide variety of accounting functions and must have a good working knowledge of full-cycle accounting which includes:
- Managing the Administration team by setting goals, reviewing performance and providing support as needed
- Preparing General Ledger entries, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Prepare monthly financial statements, forecast comparisons and management reports as required
- Liaise with management and assist with questions they may have on their financial statement results
- Reconciliation of capital asset, bank, balance sheet and intercompany accounts
- monthly review of revenue and expense accruals
- Preparing year end working papers as per regulatory reporting requirements and assist in the year end audit
- Responsible for tax payment and compliance with Federal, Provincial and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes
- Administration of insurance claims
To apply, you must have these required qualifications:
- Strong background in accounting and financial management with experience overseeing GL functions, financial reporting and forecasting
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in business, accounting, finance or combination of education and experience
- CPA designation is preferred
- 5+ years experience in accounting field
- 3+ years of management or supervisory experience
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to make the necessary decisions to move forward with the work at hand
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office
- Strong time management and organizational skills
