Overview
G.A.S. Classics in Victoria, BC, is looking for an experienced technician to join our restoration department. We specialize in the repair and restoration of classic cars, trucks, and hot rods for fellow enthusiasts. Prior experience in a dealership or high volume automotive repair shop environment is considered an asset, as is familiarity and comfort working with rare and high value vehicles or restoration projects. Job Requirements
- Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record
- Understanding of safe lifting practices and ability to lift 70lbs
- Work an 8 hour shift Monday to Friday
- Red Seal certification in automotive service is preferred. Automotive apprentices at or above level 2 and are currently enrolled in a post-secondary apprenticeship program may also be considered.
- Technicians are required to provide their own tools
- Disassemble, repair, restore, and reassemble classic vehicles with precision and care
- Ensure all restoration work meets the highest quality standards and client specifications
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, along with competency utilizing shop equipment (vehicle hoists, media blast cabinets, etc. ).
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency
- Clearly document all repair work performed
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and develop restoration strategies
The Ideal Candidate will Posses:
- Strong understanding of mechanical vehicle systems, engines, and chassis components
- Excellent attention to detail combined with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with fabrication of brake and fuel lines,
- Strong understanding of vehicle wiring and electrical systems
- Strong diagnostic fundamentals without the use of a scan tool or service information
- Knowledge and experience rebuilding and tuning both factory and aftermarket carburetors
- Knowledge and experience with both points and electronic ignition systems
- Welding and metal fabrication experience is a plus, but not mandatory
- Knowledge of automotive painting, bodywork techniques, and rust repair is a plus but not mandatory
