The Opportunity
Métis Crossing seeks dynamic individuals for the position of “Guest Experience Associate (Facility & Site)”. The successful applicants will be responsible for contributing to the professional presentation and appearance of Metis Crossing. Basic knowledge, understanding and experience in grounds keeping, gardening, and building maintenance is preferred. Working as a team, the Guest Experience Associate (Facility & Site) will work to ensure the campground, historic village, gardens, permaculture installations, trails, and gathering center are properly maintained to optimally share the Métis story with the public. While your primary responsibilities will align with those of Facilities and Site, you will be required to assist with other duties as needed to support the organization's operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform lawn care and maintenance to ensure grounds are well-kept..
· Carry out general repairs on facilities and equipment as needed.
· Maintain the interior and exterior of buildings to a high standard.
· Keep a detailed log of general repairs and maintenance tasks.
· Organize and maintain safe work and storage areas.
· Use and wear all required equipment, devices, and clothing as mandated by Métis Crossing and in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards.
· Report any issues or defective equipment to the supervisor promptly.
· Follow Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) guidelines at all times.
· Perform other duties as assigned by management/
Preferred Qualifications
· Safety tickets including WHMIS and First Aid.
· Working knowledge of light duty HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
· Experience with power tools and lawn maintenance equipment.
· Previous experience as a Maintenance Worker.
· Must have Valid Class 5 Drivers’ License.
· Knowledge and adherence to safe working practices.
· Knowledge of Alberta history and cultural diversity.
· Knowledge of Alberta Métis culture, past and present.
Skills & Competencies
· Strong oral communication skills to interact effectively with team members and management.
· Experience working with diverse audiences from varying cultural backgrounds and age groups is preferred.
· Flexibility to adjust to changes in schedule and assignments.
· High attention to detail to ensure the quality and safety of tasks.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, while taking direction effectively.
· Capability to perform in a noisy, fast-paced, and multitasking work environment.
· Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in demanding environments
Other Requirements
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.
- Ability to work on-site at Métis Crossing in Smoky Lake.
- Clear Criminal Record Check is mandatory.
- Clear Driver’s Abstract is required.
