Summary
We are seeking a skilled Cabinet Maker to join our fully custom millwork shop. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with laminates and veneers, a strong ability to interpret and work from detailed shop drawings, and excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with designers, engineers, and fellow craftsmen.
This role is integral to delivering high-quality, custom cabinetry and architectural millwork to our discerning commercial, retail and residential clients. You’ll be responsible for crafting everything from one-off furniture pieces to full built-in installations, ensuring precision, quality, and craftsmanship in every job.
Responsibilities
- Construct and assemble cabinets and custom woodwork according to specifications.
- Utilize hand tools and woodworking machinery to create high-quality products.
- Ensure all work meets safety standards and quality expectations.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to develop innovative solutions.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote efficiency.
- Perform repairs and modifications as needed on existing cabinetry.
Requirements
- Interpret and build from detailed shop drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
- Construct custom cabinetry and millwork using a variety of tools and woodworking machines.
- Work confidently with various materials including hardwoods, softwoods, veneers, laminates, MDF, and plywood.
- Cut, shape, and assemble wood and wood-based materials to specified dimensions and finish requirement.
- Perform precise installation of hardware such as hinges, drawer slides, locks, and handles.
- Sand, finish, and prepare completed components for delivery or finishing.
- Ensure all work meets internal quality standards and client specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company and safety regulations
- Communicate clearly with team members, supervisors, and project managers regarding progress and issues.
- Assist in training apprentices or junior staff, as needed.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position, typically Monday to Friday (06:00 – 14:00) and potential for paid overtime as required
- Shop environment with regular exposure to wood dust, adhesives, and machinery noise.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
