What You'll Do
As an Overhead Crane Operator, you will be for safely moving precast concrete panels and components throughout the Repair/Rework Department and performing concrete repairs to ensure products meet quality standards and customer specifications. This position combines overhead crane operation with hands-on patching, finishing, grinding, and rework of precast concrete products prior to shipment.
Duties
- Operate overhead bridge cranes to safely lift, move, rotate, and position precast concrete panels and components.
- Transport panels between production, repair, quality control, storage, and shipping areas.
- Perform concrete patching, repairs, and cosmetic rework on precast panels and architectural finishes.
- Repair defects such as honeycombing, chips, cracks, bug holes, surface blemishes, and damaged edges.
- Use hand and power tools including grinders, chipping tools, and finishing equipment to complete repairs.
- Mix and apply approved repair materials, grouts, patching compounds, and concrete repair products.
- Match repair finishes, textures, and colours to meet quality requirements.
- Inspect precast products for visible defects and report quality concerns to supervisors or quality personnel.
- Read and follow repair instructions, production drawings, work orders, and quality reports.
- Assist with panel turnover, positioning, and handling during repair operations.
- Perform daily inspections of cranes, rigging, slings, chains, hooks, and lifting devices.
- Maintain a safe and organized work area and follow all company safety procedures.
- Communicate effectively with team members, spotters, supervisors, and quality control personnel.
Experience
- Experience operating overhead cranes in a manufacturing, construction, precast, or industrial environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience performing concrete repair, patching, finishing, or construction-related work.
- Knowledge of safe rigging and lifting practices.
- Ability to read drawings, shop tickets, and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
