Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated, curious, and highly engaged junior developer to support the launch and ongoing enhancement of HRIS platform - Humankind Technologies.
We are looking for a rock star student or recent graduate who ‘gets it quickly’ and can lead development while holding a keen understanding of business imperatives and the bigger picture.
Working closely with the Humankind team, you will enhance existing HRIS functionality, build new features, and integrations
What You’ll Work On
- Leverage AI-assisted tools (e.g., OpenAI, Claude) to support development and efficiency
- Play a lead role in the enhancement and integration of our existing HRIS platform
- Focus on integrating AI in HR processes
- Assist in building and improving core HR modules (e.g., employee management, time-off, performance, training)
- Develop and support APIs and integrations between Humankind HRIS and recruiting platforms like Indeed as well as future functionality around payroll, and scheduling systems
- Help automate manual workflows and improve system efficiency
- Support deployment and updates within a Microsoft Azure environment
- Troubleshoot issues, debug code, and assist with system optimization
- Collaborate with the team on development priorities, solutions, and improvements
- Contribute to improving user experience and overall system performance

Qualifications & Technical Skills
Required / Core Skills:
- Strong programming fundamentals (C#/.NET preferred; Python or JavaScript also considered)
- Understanding of APIs, REST services, and system integrations
- Familiarity with databases and data handling (SQL Server / T-SQL preferred)
- Experience with debugging, troubleshooting, and improving code
- Familiarity with leading cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud
- Working knowledge of version control tools such as Git Hub/Git Lab
- Experience or understanding of containerization and orchestration using Kubernetes
- Exposure to DevSecOps practices with a focus on secure and efficient development pipelines
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and collaborative development environments
Nice to Have:
- Exposure to cloud environments (Microsoft Azure preferred)
- Experience working with or learning about LLM/AI APIs (OpenAI, Claude, etc.)
- Familiarity with web development concepts (HTML, CSS, React or similar)
- Exposure to version control tools (e.g., Git)
- Interest in HR systems, SaaS platforms, or system integrations

Eligibility Requirement
We anticipate this position will be filled by a recent graduate or current university student looking for part time work. For students, the role would be partially funded through a student employment program for Canadian citizens.
