Description:
As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for coordinating occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will also provide supervision to students and team members as assigned.
In this role, you will work both independently and as an integral member of an interdisciplinary team, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will make day-to-day clinical decisions regarding patient and family needs, including assessment, intervention, discharge planning, and follow-up.
You will advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient, and effective client care. You will also ensure that occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and aligned with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, the code of ethics, and AHS policies and guidelines.
Additionally, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area by monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs, and assisting medical staff with caseload management. Your responsibilities will include completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff.
You will participate in program development and operational planning, as well as represent the department on committees or within organizational programs. In collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers, you will make decisions regarding staffing level requirements, workflow, and caseload priorities.
As assigned, you will also fulfill the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator, and/or advocate within your program or service area.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
